What to expect
What taking part at one of our sites looks like
A coordinator calls first to go through your health history and answer questions. Nothing is booked until you want it to be. At the site the team walks through the study in plain language, including what is being tested and the known risks, before you sign anything. Simple screening checks then confirm whether the study is a fit, and being screened does not commit you to continuing.

Common questions about our research sites
What is a research site?
A physician-led clinic that runs clinical studies alongside its regular practice. Study visits happen there rather than at a hospital research unit, which usually means shorter travel and the same small team each visit.
Do I have to be a patient of the clinic?
No. The sites work with volunteers from across their area alongside local family doctors, specialists and nurse practitioners, and you can contact a site directly without a referral.
Will taking part cost me anything?
Study visits and study-related assessments are provided at no cost to you, and many studies reimburse reasonable travel and parking. What is offered differs from study to study, and the site confirms it in writing before you consent.
Who oversees the research at these sites?
Every study is authorised by Health Canada and reviewed by an independent research ethics board before it can open, and is run under ICH Good Clinical Practice by a physician investigator. Your information is handled under PIPEDA and the applicable provincial health-privacy law.
