About this research site

Dr. Steven V. Zizzo was born and raised in Hamilton. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario with Honours in Health Sciences with Minor in Rural Health, Dr. S. Zizzo earned his Medical Degree and Masters of Public Health at the University of Sydney (Australia), and completed his residency in Family Medicine at McMaster University. Dr. S. Zizzo is passionate about the health of both the individual and the population, with special interest and training in preventive medicine including weight loss and obesity, addiction medicine, dermatological procedures, hair loss, and travel medicine. Licensed in both Australia and Canada, Dr. S. Zizzo is the Founder and Medical Director of Winterberry Family Medicine and is committed to helping you achieve your best health – your best life.

  1. 1997The clinic is establishedWinterberry Family Medicine was established in 1997 as a multidisciplinary practice. It now runs clinical trials from a dedicated research hub alongside family medicine, physiotherapy, dietetics and mental-health care.

Study visits take place at the Winterberry Research Hub, 325 Winterberry Dr., Suite 202, Hamilton, ON, L8J 0B6, where there is free on-site parking. The research line is (365) 366-6267, or (905) 575-9004 extension 4, or email research@winterberrymedical.ca. Research hours run earlier and later than the family practice, including two evenings a week and Saturday mornings, which usually makes visits easier to fit around work. The clinic has an accessibility policy under the AODA and welcomes service animals and support persons. Mention any parking, mobility or scheduling needs when the coordinator calls.

Do I need a referral from my family doctor?
No. You can contact the site directly. With your permission the research team will keep your family doctor informed, which is standard practice in clinical research.
I am not a patient at this clinic. Can I still take part?
Yes. The site works with volunteers from across the Hamilton area, alongside local family doctors, specialists and nurse practitioners.
Will taking part cost me anything?
No. Study visits and study-related assessments are provided at no cost, and reasonable travel costs may be reimbursed where a study allows it.
How far will I have to travel?
Visits for the studies listed here take place at 325 Winterberry Dr., Suite 202, Hamilton, ON, L8J 0B6. The coordinator confirms the full visit schedule with you before you agree to anything.
